Watched the presidential debate, experiencing political depression.
McCain's constant lies, the sterile fakeness of the format, thoughts of whether we'll ever have election reform or freedom from two-party politics or government that's reasonably efficient and intelligent, fear that something will yet go horribly wrong (even wronger than the current ambient doom levels). At least Obama did a decent job, and the independents polled didn't seem to buy McCain's lies, but it gives me a headache to see a guy with
such poor judgment talk about how
Obama would wreck the economy. McCain supporters praise his ability to change positions with changing circumstances (like when his former principles get in the way of winning), but they neglect to note that this is often because his original judgment was horribly wrong.
In related news, the DOW was down another 500 points today. That's 33% lower than one year ago today.
Perhaps
the only effective solutions will be unpleasant ones.
