IT'S UNDER 9000!
Oct. 9th, 2008 03:43 pmYesterday, I wondered aloud whether we'd see the DOW below 9000 before the end of the week, allowing me to make another post with a gratuitous reference to a 4chan meme. From the front page of Google Finance at this very moment:
DOW: 8,700.33 (-557.77) (-6.02%)
Hope you weren't planning on using that economy anytime soon.
Update: At the end of the day:
DOW: 8,579.19 (-678.91) (-7.33%)
Another update: The rest of the world is taking a pummeling, too. Japan's stock market in particular, down nearly 10% in the first hour of trading. Ouch.
